I told you it was going to happen! The first episode of Conmania 101! The first episode is about convention survival kits — specifically, what you’re going to carry all of your stuff in. Obviously this is very early, so if you can leave whatever comments you can, I will be very grateful.
Hey Conmaniacs, hope the vacation treated you all well and were full of con goodness. Conmania HQ was rained out, but we still managed to capture the top con news coming off the wires for you.
C2E2 in Chicago released their exhibit hall floor plan. It is still tentative and subject to change, but you have a month to figure out how to most efficiently spend your show floor time.
Derby City Con in Kentucky announced a new guest, Aracana Comics writer John Barker.
Horror Realm Con in Pittsburgh announced their show schedule.
Sandiego.com wrote a really snotty article about how tough it is to get Comic Con International tickets. True, but they wrote it in a really insulting way. I’m not advocating anything nasty, but if you want to leave some feedback, be my guest.
That’s it for today. Check in tomorrow for the latest batch of con news.

Two Comic-Con scamsters plead guilty in San Diego
December 27, 2010
Two men from Los Angeles have pleaded guilty in San Diego to selling bogus tickets to last summer’s Comic-Con bash.
Farhad Lame and Navid Vatankhahan were each sentenced to a $750 fine, three years’ probation and 10 days of community service picking up roadside trash. Lame pleaded guilty in San Diego County Superior Court on Monday; Vatankhahan pleaded guilty last week.
The two were arrested in July on the last day of the convention when two women who had each paid $120 for a two-day ticket were refused entry. The tickets proved to be photocopies of a non-transferable exhibitor’s ticket.
With the increasing popularity of the annual event, tickets to Comic-Con are becoming rare and precious commodities.
City Atty. Jan Goldsmith warned the public to be wary of ticket offers to popular events such as Comic-Con. “The old adage, ‘If it seems too good to be true, it usually is,’ applies more than ever to the Internet,” Goldsmith said.
So I advise everyone to be careful. Only purchase your tickets from the event site. Not some other third party.
I would love to hear about your plans for the new year, you can contact me at Magid@raybin.com Also make sure to contact the events you would like to see featured here on www.conmania.com
I hope that if you are travelling you are safe, and even if your back at work that you are a bit more relaxed…
Here is to diving right back into the thick of things…
