I’ll bet you never knew Australia has such great events. Here we have Oz Trek 5. This event has not settled on a location yet but it will be on May 21, 2011 in Melbourne…
Their first guest is the incredibly funny Jonathan Frakes who portrayed our favorite Number One, William T. Riker. Picards second in command.

Second is Garrett Wang who is best know for playing Ensign Harry Kim on Star Trek: Voyager. I love Garrett and I have to agree with him that his character was sorely underused on Voyager. Which is sad as he is such a talented actor.

Last but certainly not least is Richard Herd who in Star Trek: Voyager as Admiral Owen Paris the father of Tom Paris and on V the Original Mini Series as John, the Visitors’ Supreme Commander.

Voyager really was one of my faves along with Deep Space Nine. Although Voyager’s finale should have been longer as it seemed to end too quickly.

Rainbow Sun Francks – Rainbow co-stars in the first season of Stargate Atlantis as bad ass Lieutenant Aiden Ford. He previously hosted Canada’s MuchMusic as a VeeJay, and writes and performs in his own hip-hop group, The Oddities.

How about that amazing talent and fantastic Magician Colin Cunningham. When I worked with him, he did some magic for us that rivaled that of Criss Angel – Sometimes referred to as Canada’s ‘Gary Oldman’, this California native has played everything from the ‘straight up’ Major Davis on STARGATE SG-1, to ‘crooked’ cop Brian Curtis on DaVINCI’S INQUEST. Cunningham is currently starring on two television series. The first as John Pope in the new STEVEN SPIELBERG/DREAMWORKS produced, FALLING SKIES and again as Neil Styles on HBO Canada’s LIVING IN YOUR CAR. Cunningham also recurs as Roy Lane (the brother of Hugh Dillon’s, Ed Lane) on CBS/CTV’s FLASHPOINT.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Cunningham has been pursued by Arnold Shwarzenngegger in THE SIXTH DAY and put his life on the line for Jennifer Garner in ELEKTRA. Indie favorites include BEST IN SHOW and BREAKFAST WITH SCOT.

This next woman is the epitome of grace and style. The fantastic singer and dancer, Nana Visitor who played Kira Nerys in Star Trek Deep Space Nine. I cannot say how much I adore this talented lady.

I know you all remember Ryan Robbins who plays Henry Foss on Sanctuary. A character actor, Ryan is constantly reinventing himself; aspiring to keep each character fresh and unique. Ryan, an avid comic book fan, can be seen most recently guest starring in reoccurring roles on Blade, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate: Atlantis, Season 3 of The Collector andthe series lead in the CTV series Alice I Think. Robbins can also be seen in the independent films The Cabin Movie and When Jessie was Born (a multiple award winner) as the lead. His other credits include Supernatural, Smallville, Catwoman, Walking Tall, The Days, Kingdom Hospital and The Bug (winner of three Leo Awards). You can also see Robbins in Steven Spielberg’s Taken and the highly acclaimed Steven Spielberg mini-series Into the West.

Lets take a trip through the Stargate to Sydney Australia!

This very weekend down under is the Gate To The Sanctuary event. It is happening in my home town and old haunt. Parramatta in NSW. The Sebel Parramatta, 350 Church Street Parramatta.
As you can see from the banner above they have a great lineup. The lovely Amanda Tapping from both Stargate and Sanctuary. Personally I think she has really been able to shine on Sanctuary. On Stargate she was underused.

Next up is the great Carmen Argenziano who has appeared in over 200 films and television series and has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. But of course for our purposes he was on Stargate as Jacob Carter / Selmak.

Now we have something special for the lovely ladies out there and I am sure some guys too. The very handsome Ryan Robbinswho is best know now for his roles in Sanctuary as Henry Foss and Caprica as Diego. I remember their was a soldier who was about to re-inlist into the Marines I think it was and he want Amanda to lead the ceremony. She was amazing and it was so touching. With Halloween rapidly approaching I would love to hear some of your stories from past Halloweens? I have always loved Halloween. Even growing up in Australia during a time no one really new what it was. The times I tried to Trick or Treat I had women threaten to call the police as they did not understand what the heck I was doing…Pretty funny now…

October, the month of ghouls and scares…

Hello Con-Maniacs,
Are you getting ready for a few good scares? What do you like about the leed up too Halloween? When I was little growing up in Australia, no one really celebrated Halloween. My Mum being American we would always try to. Every year she would make me some costume, Vampire, Ghost, Wizard, Darth Vader…It was always great fun. And of course there were no real costumes to by like that so they always had to be handmade. Jack O’Lanterns, always loved them, although the ones I grew up with were green on the outside and hard as rock. They took forever to carve…But still always great fun. A couple of times we tried Trick or Treating, that did not go over too well. People would look at me and ask what the heck was I doing. One woman threatened to call the police…Of course now it is quite big in Australia.
